Casa Vale
A terraced house rebuilt in rammed earth, currently on site.
Introduction
The remains of a farmhouse on an olive terrace, rebuilt as a year-round home. Existing stone walls are retained where they stand; new work is rammed earth, poured in visible lifts.
The challenge
Half the original structure was unsound, and the terrace could not carry heavy plant. The client wanted the repair to remain readable rather than disguised.
Our approach
Earth for the new walls was taken from the site's own excavation, stabilised and rammed on a light travelling formwork. Old and new meet on a continuous horizontal joint at sill height.
The outcome
Currently on site, with completion expected in 2027. Structural work is finished and the first interior lifts are cured.
